“Light from on high”
– Luk 1:78 (AMP)
Gaze…
At the start of a new year most people seem to feel more energetic and have high hopes for what the year may bring. Truth is, that is simply a temporary mental attitude. As a believer, however, we can maintain that optimism because we truly have eternal life that flows from the very Throne of God! We are not subject to the often-fatalistic view of this world, but we are secured in Christ Whom is called our “hope of glory” (Col 1:27).
There is only one way to maintain this hope: keeping our eyes focused on Christ, not on our surroundings! “For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ“ (2 Cor 4:6).
We know Heb 12:2 that says: “looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross…” David knew this infallible truth as well: “One thing I have desired of the LORD, that will I seek… to behold the beauty of the LORD…” The Amplified version puts it this way: “to behold and gaze upon the beauty [the sweet attractiveness and the delightful loveliness] of the Lord and to meditate, consider…”
May we discover and then tarry in that place all year round!
