“Light from on high”
– Luk 1:78 (AMP)
From Trouble to Triumph!
The Church of Jesus Christ has always been under pressure to one extent or another. When the Church was persecuted, it spread to other cities and countries (that was one way the Gospel came from Europe to South Africa). But the Church always prevailed and increased. When the border of a country was locked for the Gospel (like by the so-called “iron- and bamboo curtains”), the Church simply went underground. And when the Church had it too easy and became complacent, it usually was some “stormy weather” that led it to an awakening. One thing we know for certain, not even the gates of hell shall prevail against the Church!
The current situation in our country (and really world-wide) is no different. I have somehow always known that our past form of church operations would change. Change is never easy, nor comfortable. Yet, change is inevitable, especially when we may have fallen into a rut. When Jesus came to earth, He confronted the religious system of the time and in preparing for His return, I think we are confronted also. This is not because God is angry with us, no, not at all. But because He is returning to a triumphant “bride”. The dire situations that our current national challenge may bring to personal your life, is to streamline you for triumph!
Be encouraged by the Word of Jesus in Joh 16:33 These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.
At this time, I would like to congratulate and bless the people who were elected as the Leadership (Church Board) of Lighthouse for 2020 & 2021. We are indeed living in drastically changing times, and as such the leadership will need your prayers and support to discern God’s will for the years ahead. May the Lord equip and anoint our leaders, as they will all be pioneers of our future! Here is the list of Board members (in no particular order):
1. Gabriel
2. Dunia
3. Estelle
4. Sandy (Treasurer)
5. Taffy
6. Peter Storch
7. Lynette (Board Secretary)
8. and of course, Hettie
9. and George
The complete Eldership will be announced later. Three Fiduciary officers have to be elected by the Congregation (from the Board member list 1-7 above). We will try and do that after our first allowed Sunday meeting at church. In case some restricting meeting-measures prevail, or we have low attendance, we could revert to electronic voting.
I will attempt to post a teaching online by every weekend (audio or video) but will inform you once the link(s) is ready. Do check your WhatsApp messages / emails for regular updates. Also remember that your mails from the church may end up in your Spam / Junk folders, due to individual Mail Client filters. I am happy to announce that our Website-challenge had been resolved. Should you encounter any problems with the Website, do let me know.
Warm regards from the pastoral office
