INTRODUCTION TO THE LIGHTHOUSE FULL GOSPEL CHURCH

We are a local church of Christian believers forming part of the global Body of Christ (I Cor 16:19).

Church Affiliation

Although we are locally called “Lighthouse Full Gospel Church” we are an official “Full Gospel Church of God in South Africa” (FGC) assembly. The Full Gospel Church is one of the largest Pentecostal churches in the world. It was established in South Africa in 1910.

Church Grouping

We are classified as a Pentecostal church, meaning we believe that the event on Pentecost (when the Holy Spirit was poured out) is still appropriate today. We believe in the “baptism with the Holy Spirit” with the evidence of speaking in unknown tongues and subsequent power to be an efficient witness for Christ.

Involvement

It is the church’s desire to create a family atmosphere. To enable this it is strongly recommended that every member become part of some ministry in the church. In that way everyone will be surrounded by people who will care for and encourage one another.

OUR VISION

Revealing the Kingdom of God & Advancing against the kingdom of darkness.

i. Revealing the Supernatural Spiritual Kingdom of God to the Body of Christ, by Declaring the Authority & Victory of the Church of Jesus;
ii. Engaging in Strategic Spiritual Warfare under direction of the Captain of the hosts, by prophesying & declaring the demise of evil strongholds & ruling entities, through the Power of the Holy Spirit and the assistance of the host of Heaven.

Assembly Focus

We strive to be a SPIRIT LED, BODY MINISTRY. We place high emphasis on a relationship with God and desire to experience the manifest Presence of God in our celebration services. Humility and Servant-hood form some of our key foundational ministry attitudes. Although we endeavour to be a balanced ministry, we are not bound by man’s traditions and religious activities. We do not discriminate on race or gender, but will not violate Biblical principles to be deemed politically correct.

STATEMENT OF FAITH

We believe The Scriptures

The Bible is the inspired Word of God--the product of holy men of old who spoke and wrote as they were moved by the Holy Spirit. The New Covenant, as recorded in the New Testament, is accepted as our infallible guide in matters pertaining to conduct and doctrine.
(2 Tim. 3:16; I Thess. 2:13; 2 Peter 1:21)

We believe In GOD

Our God is one but eternally existing in three persons namely the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit being co-equal. (Phil. 2:6) The Son is the Word made flesh and has existed with the Father from the beginning. (John 1:1,14 & 18) The Holy Spirit proceeds forth from both the Father and the Son and is eternal.
(John 15:26)

We believe In Jesus Christ

We believe in the deity of the Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, of His shed blood on Calvary for the forgiveness of our sins, of His bodily resurrection and ascension to the Father’s right hand. We believe that He is the only way to the father and through Whom we can receive righteousness, regeneration, sanctification, and glorification. He is, in fact, our salvation.
(1 Cor. 1:30-31)

We believe in the Church

We believe that the universal church is comprised of all true believers who have received salvation through Christ. (Eph. 1:22-23) We also believe in and encourage fellowship with a local church. Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the day approaching.
(Heb 10:25)

We believe in the Redemption of Man

Man is a created being made in the likeness and image of God, but through Adam's transgression and fall, sin came into the world. (Rom. 3:10, 23) Jesus Christ, the Son of God, was manifested to undo the works of the devil. He gave His life and shed His blood to redeem and restore man back to God. (Rom. 5:14-21; I John 3:8) Salvation is the gift of God to man, separate from works and laws, and is made operative by grace through faith in Jesus Christ, producing works acceptable to God.
(Eph. 2:8)

We believe in Salvation

We believe that all who receive Jesus as Saviour and Lord, in repentance and faith, are born-again.
John 3:3-5; Acts 20:20-21; Rom. 10:9-13)

We believe in Water Baptism

We believe that water baptism is by immersion and is an ordinance of the New Testament Church, and is to be observed by born-again believers only. This ordinance is a symbol of the Christian's identification with Christ in His death, burial, and resurrection.
(Matt. 28:19; Rom. 6:4; Col. 2:12; Acts 8:36-39)

We believe in the Gifts of the Spirit

We believe that spiritual gifts and manifestations of the Holy Spirit are for the common good and building up of each other today.
(1 Cor. 12:7)

We believe in the Baptism in the Holy Spirit

The Baptism in the Holy Spirit, which is accompanied by the evidence of speaking in other tongues, is a gift from God as promised by the Lord Jesus Christ to all believers in this dispensation, and is received subsequent to the New Birth.
(Matt. 3:11; John 14:16,17; Acts 1:8, 2:4, 2:38, 39 & 19:1-7)

We believe in Divine Healing

Divine healing is for the physical ills of the human body and is wrought by the power of God through the prayer of faith and anointing oil, by the laying on of hands, through believing and acting on the Word of God, through the gifts of the spirit, through the healing anointing, and through anointed cloths. It is provided for in the atonement of Christ and is the privilege of every member of the Church of Jesus today.
(Isa. 53:4,5; Matt. 8:17; Mark 11:23, 16:18; Acts 10:38, 19:11-12; Rom. 10:17; 1 Cor. 12:7-11; Heb. 11:1; James 5:14-15; 1 Peter 2:24)

We believe in the Resurrection of the Just and the Return of Our Lord

We believe in the resurrection of the just and the unjust—one to everlasting life and one to everlasting damnation (Matt. 25:46) and the return of the Lord Jesus Christ to the earth as King of kings and Lord of lords.
(Acts 1:11; 1 Thess. 4:16-17)

We believe in the Second Coming

We believe it is a literal, physical second return of the Lord Jesus Christ.
(1 Thess. 1:10; 4:16-17)

We believe in Hell and Eternal Retribution

The one who physically dies in his sins without having accepted Christ is hopelessly and eternally lost in the Lake of Fire and, therefore, has no further opportunity of hearing the Gospel or of repenting.
(Heb. 9:27; Rev. 19:20)

We believe in dedicating Babies/Children to the Lord

The Pastor and/or Elders pray over the babies/children and dedicate them to God. “Train up a child in the way he should go, even when he is old he will not depart from it.”
(Prov 22:6)

We believe in Marriage between a man and a woman

“Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh. (Gen 2:24) For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and the two shall be one flesh.”
(Eph 5:31)

We believe in Tithing

Tithing / giving is intended to be a joy and a blessing. “Bring the full tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. And thereby put me to the test, says the Lord of hosts, if I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour down for you a blessing until there is no more need. I will rebuke the devourer for you, so that it will not destroy the fruits of your soil, and your vine in the field shall not fail to bear, says the Lord of hosts. Then all nations will call you blessed, for you will be a land of delight, says the Lord of hosts.”
(Mal. 3:10–12)
