“Light from on high”
– Luk 1:78 (AMP)
Importance of BODY and spirit
In our last Sunday teaching we addressed the importance of our PHYSICAL beings. Though it is true that a Christian is a born-again SPIRIT-being, that does not take away from the importance of his/her bodily existence on earth. Even in eternity we will still have BODIES, though in a resurrected state. Our bodies are what give us legal authority in the physical world.
This brings us to the understanding that all evil spirits are subject to human submission before they can negatively affect the literal world. Of course, other human beings can allow evil to work through them to still cause us harm. That is why we need the Holy Spirit to guard and guide us (through our spirit-man) away from danger. That in itself points to the importance of “walking in the spirit”.
It is said that we use only a small percentage of our brain power – maybe 10%. As I was pondering about eternity today, I realised that that is what will be so different in the “afterlife”. People that have had near-death- (or heavenly-) experiences, usually state the enhanced level of their senses. I am convinced that in our resurrected form we will have access to our entire intellect and so our bodies will operate on a superior level (hence natural man’s research into so-called “transhumanism” – an effort to improve their physical abilities). But because even the body of a believer on earth is still subject to its limited capacity, we so much more need communion with the Holy Spirit in our spirit-man. How many times the Holy Spirit has not warned us of impeding danger, or of doing something that would ultimately benefit us.
And still, even if God speaks to us in our spirit-beings, we still have to act on it our physical-beings. It is through our “hands” that God can show the world the reality and power of His spiritual Kingdom. Let us therefore seek to look after our bodies, but even more so awaken to our reborn spirits.
May the Lord make His Presence tangibly felt around you!

PS: Although we have had the sad experience of a major robbery at Church last week, Vince has already fixed much of the damage and is making his sound system available to the us for next Sunday’s meeting (thank you Vince!) So, God willing, we will still meet this coming Sunday. Please also pray that the replacement process (claim of ±R120,000) will go smoothly and favourably.
