“Light from on high”
– Luk 1:78 (AMP)
Keep on holding on!
Salmon swim upstream – even up small waterfalls! Why? It is built into their nature. The same is true of a Christian. They do not follow the crowd. They “swim upstream”. It is in their born-again nature. They walk the narrow road. Believers can expect resistance – resistance from man, but even more importantly, from the devil himself and his evil hordes.
Jesus said to Peter “satan has asked to sift you… but I have prayed for you” (Luk 22:31-32). Did you see it? “Satan ASKED”! Therefore the Bible says that God will not ALLOW us to be tempted beyond what we are able (1 Cor 10:13). A number of people have lately expressed to me that it feels as if they are currently stretched to breaking point… (I am certain it is a rather general phenomenon in the lives of true believers right now.)
Satan knows that his time is almost up! But the encouraging news is found in the words of Joseph “You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good, to accomplish what is now being done”. Unbeknown to the devil, he always plays right into God’s plans! Temptation in the Garden of Eden turned into Salvation on the cross; death brought about by sin turned into the New Birth, and so we can carry on through the Bible…
Yes, the Psalmist did say “a righteous man may have many troubles”, but he also concluded “but the LORD delivers him from them all!” (Ps 34:19) The apostles said “we must go through many hardships… enter the kingdom of God” (Acts 14:22) and even Jesus said “in this world you will have trouble”, but He continued to say “but take heart! I have overcome the world” (Joh 16:33).
With the old church song I want to say to you today: “Hold on brother, hold on sister, this is the moving day! Move a little closer, to where the streams are flowing… Move on brother, move on!” Just don’t give up. There is a great breakthrough awaiting the people of God, we must just not lose heart now!
Revel in God’s unfailing love.
NB: All men, please take note of this coming Saturday’s Men’s Meeting at Church. We will be joined by the Kempton Park assembly’s men, and the starting time has been changed to 09h00 for this meeting.
